Arena-Studios NYC is an independent photography and creative direction studio based in New York City, working across editorial and commercial assignments.
With a foundation in documentary photography, our work explores the relationship between people, place, and culture. From architecture and hospitality to portraiture, travel, and cultural traditions, we create imagery that reflects the character of our subjects and the stories that give them meaning.
Our approach is observational and intentional, guided by natural light, genuine moments, and the belief that the most compelling images often come from allowing a story to unfold naturally.
Founded by Creative Director Brittany Arena and photographer Timothy Mulcare, Arena-Studios NYC brings together complementary backgrounds in photography, visual storytelling, and brand strategy.

We believe the most compelling photographs reveal something beyond what is immediately visible. The character of a place, the identity of a person, or the significance of a tradition is often found in the details and moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
With roots in photojournalism, we approach our subjects with curiosity, patience, and respect for what already exists. Whether working on an editorial story or a commercial assignment, our intention remains the same: to create photographs that feel honest, considered, and connected to the people and places they represent.

Every assignment begins with an understanding of the subject, its context, and the story being told. We take a considered approach to each project, balancing the instincts of documentary photography with thoughtful creative direction and an understanding of the client's objectives.
We work with a select number of clients each year, allowing us to remain closely involved throughout the creative process. From initial conversations and planning through photography, image selection, and final delivery, our focus is on creating a cohesive body of work rather than a collection of individual images.
Our photographs are created with both immediate application and long-term value in mind, supporting editorial features, brand communications, and commercial use. Alongside digital photography, select projects are also photographed on film, bringing a distinct visual texture and a different rhythm to the photographic process.
